Punugulu with Idly Batter / Idly Pindi Bondalu


  • 1 cup Idly Batter
  • 1 tbsp Maida/All purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 1 big Onion finely chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies finely chopped
  • 2 sp soaked Chana Dal
  • 1 pinch Cooking Soda
  • chopped Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep fry


  1. Combine above all ingredients(except oil)In a bowl and mix together.
  2. Heat oil in a pan take 1 tbsp of the batter by hand and drop slowly into the hot oil.
  3. Deep fry these bondas on medium heat till golden brown, remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  4. Now idly pindi punugulu are ready, serve hot with chutney.
