Curry leaves Powder / Karivepaku Podi

  • 1 cup Curry Leaves
  • 2 tbsp Chana Dal
  • 2 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Pepper Corns
  • 2 inches Tamarind Flake
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 5-6 Red Chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Heat oil in a pan add chana dal, urad dal & fry for 5 mins.
  2. Next add coriander seeds, pepper corns, red chillies and fry.
  3. Fry them until they become golden brown, then remove from fire and keep aside.
  4. In the same pan add curry leaves and stir-fry them for couple of mins, remove from flame & let it cool for some time.
  5. Once cooled grind into a coarse powder with the roasted ingredients along with curry leaves, tamarind, salt, turmeric powder.
  6. Now curry leaves powder is ready, store in an airtight container, serve with rice, upma, idly along with ghee.
