Dosakaya Tomato Pappu / Yellow Cucumber Tomato Dal

  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 1 cup Yellow Cucumber pieces
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp Tamarind pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 crocked Red Chilli
  • 1 pinch Inguva/Hing
  • Curry leaves
  • Oil


  1. Pressure cook toor dal, chopped cucumber, tomato, green chilies with 11/2 cups water for 3 whistles.
  2. Let the cooker cool remove the lid and mash it well, heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  3. Once done add curry leaves, dal mix, tamarind paste, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, hing and mix well.
  4. Let it cook for 5 mins and transfer into a serving bowl, dosakaya pappu is ready to serve, serve hot with rice or roti.
