  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 3 Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 sp Tamarind Pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Pinch Inguva/Hing
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash toor dal and pressure cook along with chopped tomatoes & green chillies, let it cool for some time then remove the lid & mash it.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add hing, tamarind pulp and cook for 30 secs.
  3. Now add cooked dal mixture, red chilli powder, salt, turmeric powder and mix it well.
  4. Let it cook for 2-3 mins on low heat, then transfer into a serving bowl, now tomato dal is ready to serve, serve it with rice or roti.
