Bottle Gourd Halwa / Sorkaya Halwa / Lauki Halwa

  • 1 cup grated Bottle Gourd
  • 2 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 4 tbsp Ghee
  • few Cashew Nuts
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder


  1. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan add cashew nuts and fry till golden brown and remove from the pan and keep them aside.
  2. Add the grated bottle gourd in the same pan and fry it until the raw smell goes, stir it continuously.
  3. Now add milk and cook well, once the bottle gourd becomes soft add sugar,elaichi powder and mix well.
  4. Cook for 7-8 mins on medium flame till the mixture thickens add remaining ghee and stir well.
  5. Now bottle gourd halwa is ready, pour on a greased plate and garnish with fried cashew nuts and serve.
