Coconut Purnalu / Kobbari Burelu – Microwave Recipe

  • 2 cups grated Coconut
  • 3 cups grated Jaggery
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • Oil for deep fry
  • For Batter
  • 1 cup Urad Dal
  • 2 cups Rice
  • 1 pinch Salt


  1. Wash and soak rice and urad dal for 2 hours, then make it a paste like dosa batter add little salt and keep aside.
  2. Take a microwave safe bowl add grated jaggery, coconut, elaichi powder and mix well.
  3. Place the bowl in microwave and set the time for 3 mins, keep checking in between and stir well and again set the time for 3 mins, mix well & plug off.
  4. Let it leaves the bowl in the oven for 1 minute, after that take the bowl out and make small lemon sized balls.
  5. Heat a pan with enough oil for deep fry, once hot dip the balls in the batter and gently drop them into the hot oil.
  6. Fry until golden brown, take them out and place on to a paper towel to drain excess oil.
