Curry Leaves Rice / Karivepaku Annam

  • 2 cups Cooked Rice
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Curry Leaves Powder
  • 1 cup Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Chana Dal
  • 1 tsp Urad Dal
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander Seeds
  • 5 or 6 Peppar Corns
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 1/2 inch Tamarind
  • 2 sp Oil
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 2 tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Place cooked rice in a bowl and keep aside for cool.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add powder ingredients & fry them on medium flame till they become light brown color, then add curry leaves & stir-fry it until crispy, take them away.
  3. When cooled add tamarind and grind into a coarse powder and keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. Now add in cooked rice along with curry leaves powder, salt & mix very well, let it fry for 1 min on low flame, turn of the heat.
  6. Curry leaves rice is ready, transfer into a serving bowl, serve with curd or chutney.
