Stuffed Bitter Gourd (Karela) / Gutti Kakarakaya Kura

  • 8 nos Bitter Gourd/Kakarakayalu
  • 4 sp Gram Flour/Besan
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds/Jeera
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 tbsp Oil


  1. Take small type of karela, wash and make vertical slits, cook bitter gourd with enough salt & drain them.
  2. Take a bowl add besan, salt, cumin seeds, red chilli powder, 1 sp oil and mix well, now the stuffing is ready.
  3. Stuff each bitter gourd with the stuffing, heat oil in a wide pan add kakarakayalu & shallow fry in medium heat.
  4. Changing the sides carefully and cook them till brown in color.
  5. Remove from flame & transfer into a serving bowl, stuffed kakarakayalu are ready to serve.
