Godhuma Rava Pappu Pongali / Cracked Wheat Ven Pongal

  • 1 cup Cracked Wheat/Godhuma Rava
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 2 sp chopped Ginger
  • 1 sp Pepper powder
  • 1/2 sp Cumin seeds
  • few Cashew Nuts
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • few Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 sp Oil/Ghee


  1. Combine godhuma rava, moong dal, wash well and pressure cook with 4 cups of water, after that add salt and mix well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add pepper powder, cumin seeds, cashew nuts, hing & fry.
  3. Once done add ginger, green chilli pieces, curry leaves & fry for a while on low flame, then pour this over the wheat rava mixture and mix until well combined.
  4. Now cracked wheat ven pongal is ready to serve, serve hot with chutney or chutney powder along with ghee.
