Tomato Rice

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 3 Tomatoes chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
    1 sp Ginger Garlic paste
    1 big Onion chopped
    3 Cloves/Lavangalu
    1″ Dalchini/Cinnamon
    3 Elaichi Pods
    3 sp Oil
    Salt to taste
    Curry leaves
    chopped Coriander leaves
 Method :
  • Wash and soak rice for 10 min and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan add cloves, dalchini, elaichi and fry for 1 min.
  • Add onion, green chilli pieces, curry leaves and fry, once done add ginger garlic paste and stir.
  • Now add tomatoes and stir well, cover and cook for 5 mins on low flame till the tomatoes are soft.
  • Add 2 cups of water, enough salt and transfer them into a rice cooker bowl.
  • Press the switch to cooking mode, when the rice is cooked switch will automatically move to ‘keep warm’ mode .
  • Tomato rice is ready to serve, before serving garnish with chopped coriander leaves, serve hot with onion raita or pickle.
