Chamadumpala Curry With Cumin powder/Arbi Curry With Cumin Powder

  • 1/4 kg Chamadumpalu / Taro root
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 big Onion chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 sp Tamarind Pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Powder :
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 3 Garlic flakes
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 3 sp Oil
  • Curry leaves


  1. Grind cumin seeds, red chilli powder and garlic into a powder, wash and pressure cook chamadumpalu for 2 whistles and allow it to cool.
  2. Once cool, remove the skin and chop into pieces & keep them aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and & fry for 2 mins.
  4. Once done add onion, green chilli pieces, curry leaves and fry till light brown, add tamarind pulp, turmeric powder and stir well,
  5. Now add chopped chamdumpalu, salt and stir well, add ground powder and stir well.
  6. All the curry gets well coated with the powder, continue to cook for couple few mins with lid.
  7. Lastly turn off the flame & transfer into a serving bowl, chamadumpalu vellulli karam kura is ready to serve.
  8. Serve with White rice along with sambar.
