Amaranth Leavs Stew / Thotakura Pulusu Kura - Andhra Style Thotakura Pulusu

  • 2 cups Amarnth Leaves/Thotakura
  • 2 Onion chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli powder
  • 2 sp Tamarind Pulp
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 2 sp oil


  1. Clean wash and chop thotakura and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  2. Once done add onions, curry leaves, green chillies and stir-fry until soft.
  3. Now add chopped thotakura, turmeric powder & mix well. Add salt, tamarind pulp, red chilli powder & mix well.
  4. Add little water and cook for 10 mins on low flame with cover until done.
  5. When the curry is done, turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl.
  6. Now thotakura pulusu is ready to serve, serve with rice or rotis.
