Tamba kayalu Kura With Roasted Chana Dal Powder - how to prepare Tambakaya Curry

  • 2 nos Tambakayalu
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 2 sp Roasted Chana dal/Putnala Pappu
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp dry grated Coconut
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash and cut tamba kayalu into small pieces and pressure cook them with enough salt and turmeric powder.
  2. Combine and grind roasted chana dal, coconut powder, red chilli powder into a coarse powder and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a khadai add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked tamba kaya pieces and stir well.
  4. Add ground powder and stir well, cook on low flame for a couple of mins with lid.
  5. Remove from the flame and transfer into a serving bowl, now tamba kaya kura is ready to serve, serve with white rice.
