Bitter Gourd Sweet & Sour Curry / Kakarakaya Pulusu-Bellam Kura

Ingredients

  • 1/4 kg Kakarakayalu
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped Lengthwise
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 sp Tamarind Pulp
  • 2 sp grated Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli Crocked
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut kakarakayalu into thin and round pieces and cook with salt, turmeric powder, when done strain them.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chillies & fry for 30 sec.
  3. Next add tamarind pulp, jaggery and cook until the raw smell goes, now add cooked bitter gourd pieces, red chilli powder and stir well.
  4. Let it cook for 2 more mins, then remove from flame, kakarakaya pulusu bellam koora is ready to serve, serve hot with white rice.
