Diamond Kajalu With Jaggery / Bellam Kajalu

  • 1 cup All purpose flour / Maida
  • 1 cup grated Jaggery
  • little Salt
  • Oil for deep fry


  1. In a bowl combine maida, little salt, enough water and make a chapati dough & keep aside with cover for 30 mins.
  2. Take a large lemon sized ball of the dough & roll it into a flat chapati and cut it into small diamonds using a knife, finish the rest of the dough & keep aside
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the diamonds until light golden brown, take away from the hot oil and set aside.
  4. Now boil a cup of water & add jaggery into it and make a thick syrup like 'vundapakam'.
  5. Switch of the flame and add fried kajalu in it, mix well and pour on a wide plate & let it cool for some time.
  6. Bellam kajalu are ready to servet & store them in an airtight container.
