Sorakaya Tomato Pachadi / Bottle Gourd Tomato Chutney

  • 2 cups chopped Bottle Gourd Pieces
  • 6 Green Chillies
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hingu
  • Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil


  1. Heat 1 sp oil in a pan add green chillies and fry carefully with lid, once done remove from the pan and keep aside.
  2. Add another sp of oil to the same pan and add chopped bottle gourd pieces & tomato.
  3. Cook until the pieces are soft then remove from the pan & allow it to cool for some time.
  4. Now grind green chillies, salt, turmeric powder & cumin seeds, next add fried sorakaya, tomato mixture and grind slightly.
  5. Heat 1 sp oil in small frying pan and add popu & fry, when done add curry leaves and stir, then add it to ground chutney & mix well.
  6. Sorakaya tomato chutney is ready to serve. Serve with rice or chapati.
