Seema Vankaya Tiyya Pappu / Bangalore Vankaya Dal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor Dal
  • 1 no Chow Chow/Sema Vankaya
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/4 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hing / Inguva
  • Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel seem vankaya & cut into small pieces.
  2. Pressure cook dal, green chillies, chow chow pieces.
  3. Let the cooker cool remove the lid & mash it.
  4. Heat oil in a fry pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  5. When they splutter add curry leaves, cooked dal mix & stir well.
  6. Add turmeric powder, salt and stir well.
  7. Let it cook for 5 mins on low flame, then turn off the heat.
  8. Transfer into a serving bowl, seema vankaya tiyya pappu is ready. Serve with rice or rotis.
