Birakaya Allam Pachi Mirchi Curry / Ridge Gourd Curry With Ginger Green Chilli Paste

  • 1/2 kg Birakayalu / Ridge Gourd
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • 2 inches Ginger piece
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash, peel ginger add green chillies & grind into a coarse paste and keep aside.
  2. Wash, peel ridge gourd / birakayalu and cut into small pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  4. When done add curry leaves, ridge gourd pieces and stir.
  5. Add salt, turmeric powder and stir, cover and cook on low flame.
  6. When the curry is done add ground chilli paste and mix well.
  7. Let it cook for a couple of mins without cover.
  8. Birakaya allam pachi mirchi curry is ready to serve.
