Broken Wheat Moong Dal Sweet Pongal

  • 1 cup Godhuma Ravva / Cracked wheat
  • 1/4 cup Moong Dal
  • 11/2 cup grated Jaggery
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • few Cashew Nuts
  • 3 sp Ghee


  1. Heat 1 sp ghee in a khadai and fry the cashew nuts, remove from the pan & keep them aside.
  2. To the same pan add godhuma rava and fry on low flame until it comes good aroma.
  3. Pressure cook rava and moong dal with 21/2 cup water until done, let it cool for some time, then remove the lid and mix it well.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of water to grated jaggery & stir, till it is completely dissolved, then strain into another bowl and bring to a boil.
  5. Next add cooked ravva mix to jaggery syrup and mix well, add elaichi powder, ghee and cook for another 2 mins on low flame.
  6. After that turn of the heat & transfer into a serving bowl, godhuma rava moong dal sweet pongali is ready, garnish with cashew pieces and serve.
