Palakura Pesara Pappu Kootu / Spinach Moong Dal Kootu - Kootu Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal
  • 1 full cup chopped Spinach
  • 3 sp grated Fresh Coconut
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 pinch Inguva / Hing
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Combine and grind coconut, cumin seeds and green chillies to make a coarse paste with enough water & keep aside.
  2. Wash and pressure cook moong dal, spinach along with turmeric powder.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add cooked dal mixture, salt, ground paste and mix it well.
  4. Let it cook for a couple of mins then turn off the flame, palak kootu is ready to serve, serve with rice or rotis.
