Indian Broad Beans Moong Dal Curry

  • 1/4 kg Chikkudukayalu / Broad Beans
  • 2 sp Moong Dal
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash and soak moong dal for 10 to 15 mins and keep aside, wash and tear each chikkudukaya into 4 pieces.
  2. Pressure cook the pieces along with salt, turmeric powder and strain.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, when done add curry leaves and add soaked moong dal and stir.
  4. Sprinkle little water and stir, cover and cook on low flame, cook moong dal until soft then add cooked broad beans.
  5. Add red chilli powder and stir well, cook another 2 more mins on low flame, chikkudukaya pesara curry is ready to serve, serve with rice.
