Dal Palak / Spinach Dal With Moong Dal

  • 1 cup Moong dal
  • 2 cups chopped Spinach
  • 1 big Onion chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 1/2 sp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp chopped Ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. In a bowl combine the dal, chopped palak, green chillies and pressure cook with enough water, let it cool for some time & remove the lid and mix it well.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, when done add curry leaves chopped onion, ginger and stir.
  3. Saute until onions turn soft add cooked dal mixture, salt, turmeric, red chilli, garam masala powders & stir well.
  4. Cook for a couple of mins and turn off the flame & transfer into a bowl, now dal palak is ready to serve, serve with rice or rotis.
