Raw Banana Onion Curry / Aratikaya Ullipaya kura

  • 1 no Aratikaya / Raw Banana
  • 1 big Onion roughly chopped
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Dry Red Chilli crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash, peel banana and cut into small pieces, cook them along with salt and turmeric powder, once done strain them.
  2. Use a pestle & mortar to pound the onion, green chillies into a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, when done add ground onion mixture, curry leaves and stir.
  4. Fry them till the onion is translucent add cooked raw banana pieces & stir well.
  5. Cover and cook on low flame for a couple of minutes & turn off the flame.
  6. Now aratikaya ullipaya kura is ready, transfer into a serving bowl & serve with hot rice.
