Moong Dal With Spinach / Palakura Pesara Pappu

  • 1 small cup Moong Dal
  • 1 cup chopped Spinach / Palakura
  • 4 chopped Green Chillies
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Wash moong dal and cook on stove top.
  2. When it 3/4 done add chopped spinach, green chillies and cook.
  3. Once done add salt, turmeric powder and stir well.
  4. Mash the cooked dal with the back of a ladle and cook.
  5. Let it cook for couple of mins then remove from the flame.
  6. Heat oil in a small pan add popu ingredients and fry.
  7. Add curry leaves and fry for 30 sec and add it to cooked dal.
  8. Moong dal palakura pappu is ready to serve, serve with rice and roties.
