Maida Punugulu / All Purpose Flour Dumplings

  • 1 small cup All purpose flour / Maida
  • 1/4 small cup Rice Flour
  • 2 Green Chillies finely chopped
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • enough Butter Milk
  • 1 pinch Cooking Soda
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep fry


  1. Mix together all the above ingredients (expect oil) then add enough butter milk to make a thick batter.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan and take a tablespoon of the batter & gently drop in the hot oil and allow to cook.
  3. Fry them till they turn golden brown & remove from the hot oil & place them onto a tissue paper.
  4. continue making punugulu with the remaining batter & serve hot with coconut chutney.
