Buttermilk Stew With Chole / Chickpeas in Yogurt Gravy/ Senagala Majjiga Pulusu - Kadhi Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Curd or 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup Chickpeas
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Paste :
  • 11/2 sp Besan / Chickpeas Flour
  • fistful fresh Coconut Pieces
  • 1/2 sp Coriander Seeds
  • 2 Green Chillies roughly chopped
  • 2"inches Ginger
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves

Instructions

  1. Soak chickpeas overnight and boil them with little salt and water till they become soft & keep aside.
  2. Grind above paste ingredients to a smooth paste with enough water, take the buttermilk in a bowl add salt, ground paste and mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a sauce pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chillies, chopped onion and stir.
  4. Cook until the onions are tender add cooked chickpeas, turmeric powder & fry for 1 min, then add mixed buttermilk, red chilli powder and mix it well.
  5. Let it boil for some time, when done remove from the flame, transfer into a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves.
  6. Senagala majjiga pulusu is ready to serve, serve hot with white rice.
