Instant Tomato Dosa / Simple Tomato Dosa

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 3 nos chopped Tomatoes
  • 3 Green Chillies
  • 2 inches Ginger
  • Salt to taste
  • 6 sp Oil for dosa


  1. Clean, wash and soak the rice for 1 or 2 hours and keep aside.
  2. Grind rice along with chopped tomatoes, green chillies and ginger into a smooth paste.
  3. Pour the ground batter into a mixing bowl, add salt and mix well.
  4. Add enough water to make it a pouring consistency like dosa batter.
  5. Heat a non stick pan and grease it with oil before pouring the batter.
  6. Pour a ladle full of batter in the center and spread the batter carefully with back of the ladle to a thin dosa.
  7. Now apply 1 sp oil around the edges of the dosa, once its cooked on one side, turn the dosa to the other side so that it gets cooked well.
  8. Repeat the same process for other dosas also, now tomato dosa is ready to serve, serve hot with chutney or chutney powder.
  9. If you are decide to use rice flour, soak rice flour with enough water for 10 - 15 mins then grind tomatoes along with soaked rice flour.
