Katte Pongali - Navaratri Naivedyam

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1/2 cup Moong Dal
  • 4 cups Water
  • enough Salt
  • 1 sp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • few chopped Cashew nuts
  • Curry Leaves
  • 4 sp Ghee


  1. Wash rice, moong dal together. Add water, enough salt and pressure cook upto 4 whistles.
  2. Heat ghee in a small fry pan add cumin seeds, pepper powder, inguva and fry, then add chopped cashew nuts, curry leaves and fry.
  3. Pour this over the cooked rice mixture and mix well, now Navaratri Prasadam - Katte Pongali is ready to naivedyam.
