Tomato Carrot Maramaralu Upma / Tomato Carrot Puffed Rice Upma

  • 1 bowl Puffed Rice / Borugulu
  • 1 Tomato finely chopped
  • 1 Carrot grated
  • 2 green chillies chopped
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Red Chillies crocked
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Take a wide bowl with water and add the puffed rice, soak for a while and then squeeze out the water & keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, then add chopped onion, green chillies, curry leaves and stir.
  3. Once done add tomato pieces and cook for 1 min, now add grated carrot, turmeric powder and mix it well, cover & cook until soft.
  4. Then add puffed rice, salt and mix well, add coriander leaves & cook on low flame with cover for 1-2 mins.
  5. Tomato maramaralu upma is ready, transfer into a serving bowl, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
