  • 2 cups Panasa Pottu / finely chopped Raw Jackfruit
  • 4 Green Chillies chopped lengthwise
  • 1/2 lime sized Tamarind
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Mustard Powder
  • 2 sp grated Jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil


  1. Wash and cook panasa pottu in a pan with enough salt & turmeric powder, cook the panasa pottu/raw jackfruit until soft, once cooked remove from fire and strain it.
  2. Meanwhile, wash and soak tamarind in 1/4 cup of water for 15 mins and keep aside, then squeeze the pulp between your fingers and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chillies and fry for 30 secs.
  4. Add tamarind extract mix well & let it boil, then add in little salt, jaggery and cook till it thickens, now add cooked panasa pottu and mix well.
  5. Let it cook until all moisture is absorbed, then add mustard powder and mix it well, turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl.
  6. Aava pettina panasa pottu kura/raw jackfruit curry with mustard powder is ready to serve, serve hot with steamed white rice.
