Pesalu Majjiga Pulusu / Whole Green Moong Beans Buttermilk Stew / Kadhi Recipes

Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Soaked Whole Moong Dal /Sabut Mung Beans/Pesalu
  • 2 cups Buttermilk
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 Tomato finely chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies slit lengthwise
  • 1/2 sp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 sp Coriander Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 sp Gram Flour/Besan
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Place buttermilk in a bowl add salt, besan and keep aside. Wash soaked green moong dal and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves , chopped green chillies, onion and cook until tender then add ginger garlic paste and fry for 30 secs.
  3. Now add chopped tomato and cook for 2 mins on medium flame, then add cooked whole moong dal, coriander powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and mix.
  4. Mix every thing well with onion tomato mixture, lastly add buttermilk, chopped coriander leaves and boil for 5 mins on medium flame, then turn off the flame and transfer the prepared stew into a serving bowl.
  5. Now whole moong dal buttermilk stew is ready to serve, garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or roti.
