Instant Tomato Onion Chutney for Idli and Dosa

    For Chutney :
  • 3 Tomatoes chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Jaggery(optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/4 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 2 sp Oil
  • few Curry Leaves


  1. Combine chutney ingredients except jaggery and grind into a paste and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu and fry, once done add curry leaves and fry for 30 secs.
  3. Then add ground chutney and stir well, allow it to cook for a couple of mins.
  4. Then add in jaggery and give it a stir & again cook for one more minute.
  5. After that turn off the flame and let it cool completely, now tomato onion chutney is ready.
  6. Serve this instant tomato onion chutney with dosa, idli or uttapam.
