Bhindi Bhaji/Okra Thick Stew/Bendakaya Mudda Pulusu

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped Bhindi/Okra/Ladys Finger
  • small Marble sized Tamarind
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1 sp Jaggery (optional)
  • 1 sp Rice Flour
  • enough Salt
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2 Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • few Curry Leaves
  • chopped Coriander Leaves

Instructions

  1. Combine chopped okra, onion, green chillies, tomato and cook along with tamarind for 2 mins.
  2. Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, jaggery and cook until done.
  3. Mix rice flour with little water and add in cooked bhindi gravy and mix well.
  4. Continue to cook for a couple of mins, then add chopped coriander leaves & turn off the flame.
  5. Heat oil in a small frying pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add it to prepared bhindi bhaji & mix well.
  6. Now okra bhaji is ready, transfer into a serving bowl, it goes well with both rice and roti.

Now bhindi bhaji is ready, serve hot with rice or roti.
