Chikkudukaya Tomato Masala Kura / Broad Beans Tomato Masala Curry

  • 1 cup chopped Indian Broad Beans/Chikkudukaya Mukkalu
  • 1 Onion chopped finely
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1/2 sp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 sp Coriander Powder
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • enough Salt
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1 red Chilli crocked
  • 2 sp Oil
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves


  1. Wash and pressure cook chopped broad beans with enough salt and turmeric powder, once done strain them & keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, add curry leaves, chopped green chillies, onions and saute till it becomes soft, then add ginger garlic paste and fry.
  2. Add chopped tomato and stir, sprinkle little water and cook on low flame until soft. Add coriander powder, red chilli powder, little salt and mix well. Now add cooked broad beans/chikkudukayalu.
  3. Stir well and add chopped coriander leaves & mix everything well, let it cook for a couple minutes with lid and then turn off the flame.
  4. Now chikkudukaya tomato masala kura is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve with hot rice or roti.
