Aloo Alasandalu Curry / Potato Brown Cowpeas Curry

  • 2 no Potatoes/Aloo
  • 1/4 cup Soaked Bobbarlu/Lobia
  • 1 Onion finely chopped
  • 1 Tomato finely chopped
  • 1 Green Chilli chopped
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 Chana Dal
  • 1/4 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Pressure cook chopped potatoes, soaked cowpeas in two separate bowls for 2 whistles and then turn off the flame & allow it to cool, once cooled peel the potatoes and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, chopped onion, green chillies and stir. Stir-fry until the onions are translucent add chopped tomato and cook until soft. Now add cooked alasandalu, cooked alu and mix well.
  2. Then add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander leaves and mix everything well. Continue to cook for a couple of mins and then transfer it into a serving bowl. Now healthy recipe bangaladumpa bobbarlu curry is ready to serve, serve hot with rice or roti.
