Drumstick Rice / Munakkaya Rice / Moringa Rice

  • 1 cup Cooked Rice
  • 2 Drumsticks
  • 2 Green Chillies chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 medium size Tomatoes chopped finely
  • 1/2 sp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1/2 sp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1/2 sp Coriander Powder
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • Salt to taste
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil


  1. Remove the ends, slightly scrape the drumsticks and wash, chop into 2 inches long pieces. Boil the chopped drumsticks with little salt, once cooked, remove from flame and keep aside.Meantime heat oil in a pan add hing and fry for 2 secs, then add curry leaves, chopped onion, green chillies, stir to cook for 2 mins and then add ginger garlic paste and fry well until the raw smell goes.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes stir well and cook until soft, then add coriander, red chilli, turmeric, garam masala powders and cook until the oil separates add in cooked drumsticks and mix carefully.
  3. Then add cooked rice, salt to this and stir the masala with rice evenly mixed, add chopped coriander leaves and mix everything well, let it cook for one minute with low flame.
  4. Now drumstick rice is ready, turn off the flame and transfer into a serving bowl and serve hot with fresh curd.
