Suji Bobbatlu / Rava Poli / Semolina Bhakshalu

    For Dough :
  • 11/2 cup All purpose flour/Maida
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 sp Oil
  • For Stuffing :
  • 1 cup Suji/Semolina/Rava
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
  • 1 sp Ghee
  • 2 1/2 cups Water
  • Oil/ghee for frying


  1. Boil water and sugar in a bowl, once done add rava, elaichi powder, stir well and continue cooking until it thickens then add 1 sp ghee & mix well, turn off the heat and allow it to cool completely.
  2. Meantime, take all purpose flour in a bowl add little salt, oil and mix it well, then add enough water and make it a soft dough, it should be soft and a bit oily, cover & keep the dough aside for 30 mins, after that knead the dough again and divide into round balls.
  3. When the stuffing is cool divide into lemon sized balls and keep aside, take a dough ball on your palm & flatten into a round small puri & place a stuffing ball & cover it carefully. Grease on a plastic paper and role the dough ball into a thin round.
  4. Meanwhile, heat the tawa on medium heat , once hot place the rolled poli on the hot tawa and cook both sides with little ghee, once done remove from the tawa and keep aside, repeat with the remaining dough balls and filling. Now ugadi special recipe rava bobbatlu are ready.
