Wash and soak tamarind in a cup of water and keep aside, heat a pan add methi seeds, rice, red chillies and dry roast them till they turn light brown color, take them out to a plate and keep aside, once cooled grind into a coarse powder. In the meantime, extract tamarind juice from the soaked tamarind pulp and keep aside.
Heat oil to the same pan add popu ingredients and fry, when it splutter add curry leaves, sliced onion and stir-fry for 1 min on low-medium flame until tender.
Then add tamarind juice, turmeric powder, salt to fried onion and cook for 5 mins. Now add 2 sp ground powder, jaggery, chopped coriander leaves and cook for a couple of mins. Finally transfer it to a serving bowl, spicy and tasty menthulu pulusu is ready. It is a great combination with pappu, steamed white rice and dollop of ghee.
