Bottle Gourd Curry With Curry Powder/ Sorakaya Kura / Lauki Sabji

  • 1 1/2 cup chopped Bottle Gourd Pieces
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 2 sp Chutney Powder/Curry Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil


  1. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, chopped sorakaya mukkalu/pieces and stir. Add in turmeric powder and sprinkle little water, mix well and cook with cover for 5 mins on medium flame.
  2. When the curry is half done add salt and stir-cook till done, then add curry powder and mix everything well to coat the curry with the curry powder and allow to cook for a min with a lid. Now sorakaya kura is ready, transfer into a serving bowl and serve.
