Chana Pulihora / Chole Lemon Rice – how to prepare White Chick Peas Lemon Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Cooked Rice
  • 1/4 cup soaked Kabuli Chana/Chole
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Green Chilli slit lengthwise
  • 2 sp Lemon Juice
  • Salt to taste
  • For Powder :
  • 1 sp Coriander Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Methi Seeds
  • 3 Red Chillies
  • For Popu :
  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hing
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 3 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak chole for 8 hours, then cook them in pressure cooker for 4 whistles and allow it to cool, once cooled drain them. Place cooked rice in a bowl and keep aside. Heat a pan add powder ingredients and fry for a while, then grind them into a course powder.
  2. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry. Once done add chopped green chillies, curry leaves and fry for 2-3 secs. Then add turmeric powder, ground powder and stir. Now add cooked chana and mix well.
  3. Let it cook for one more min and turn off the flame. Add in salt, lemon juice and mix it well. Then pour this fried chole mixture to rice bowl and mix everything well. Now kabuli chana pulihora/chole lemon rice is ready. Transfer into a serving bowl and serve.
