Wash, peel kanda gadda and cut into small pieces, cook with turmeric powder and keep aside. Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, green chilli, onion pieces and fry till soft. Then add chopped tomato and cook for a while.
Add cooked yam pieces and mix well. Now add tamarind paste, 2 cups of water and mix well. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, jaggery and let it boil for a few mins. Mix rice flour in 1/4 cup of water and pour it in the cooked stew and stir well.
Add chopped coriander leaves and cook for a couple of mins until the stew thickens, remove from flame and transfer into a serving bowl. Now kanada gadda ullipaya pulusu is ready to serve, serve with steamed white rice along with dal.
