Moong Dal Puri Recipe / Stuffed Moong Dal Puri – how to make stuffed Moong Dal Puri

1 cup Wheat Flour
1 pinch Salt
Oil for deep fry
For Stuffing :
1 small cup whole Moong Dal/Green Gram
1/2 sp Garam Masala Powder
1 pinch Turmeric Powder
1/2 sp Red Chilli Powder
1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
Salt to taste
1 pinch Hing
few chopped Curry Leaves
2 sp Oil
Wash and soak moong dal for 4 hours and then drain them, after that grind into a paste. In a mixing bowl combine wheat flour, salt and make a soft dough with enough water, keep aside for 15 mins with cover.
Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds, hing and fry, then add curry leaves ground moong dal paste and mix well. Add enough salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and cook on low flame until the moisture is absorbed. Add garam masala powder and mix well, turn off the flame and allow it to cool, now the stuffing is ready.
Once cooled mix well and make lime sized balls and keep aside. Divide dough into 4 equal balls. Take one dough ball, apply some wheat flour and roll into a small puri, then place stuffing moong dal ball in the center and carefully close it from all sides together. Dust with wheat flour on both sides and roll it gently into a round shaped puri.
Heat oil in a khadai, when hot fry the stuffed puri on low -medium flame till they turn golden brown in color from both sides. Once done remove from the pan and place on a paper napkin to drain excess oil, repeat with the remaining dough balls and filling, now stuffed moong dal puris are ready, serve hot with fresh yogurt or tomato sauce.
