Dates Rabri / Khajur Basundi – How to make Dates Basundi

  • 4 cups Milk
  • 1 cup chopped Dates
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/2 sp Ealichi Powder
  • 2 sp chopped Dry Fruits


  1. First deseed dates and chop them into small pieces and keep aside. Pour milk in a non-stick pan and bring to a boil for 15-20 mins. Simmer over a medium flame, stirring continuously. After 20 mins the milk reduces to half of its original quantity.
  2. Once the milk reduces to half, then add sugar to it and boil until the sugar completely dissolves in the milk, now add elaichi powder and mix well, scrape the sides of the pan and stir the milk mixture from time to time. Once the milk thickens, turn off the flame and allow it to cool completely. Once cooled add chopped khajur and mix well, refrigerate for 1 hour. Now yummy yummy dates basundi is ready, before serving sprinkle chopped nuts and serve.
