Kootu Powder / Home Made Kootu Powder - How to Make Spicy Kootu Powder

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Chana Dal
  • 2 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 2 tbsp Coriander Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Peppercorn
  • 1 tbsp Rice
  • fistful Dry Coconut
  • 10-12 Red Chillies
  • small lime size Tamarind
  • 1/2 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan add the first five ingredients and dry roast until light brown in color, then transfer to a plate. Heat oil to the same pan add red chillies and fry till done.
  2. Now add in coconut pieces and fry for 10 secs. Then turn off the flame and allow it to cool. Once cooled grind them into powder along with tamarind. Now ready made kootu powder is ready and keep aside for few mins. After that store the kootu powder in an airtight container or glass bottle. It will stay fresh for two months.
