Ingredients

  • 1 small piece Kandagadda/Elephant Yam/Suran
  • 1 cup Fresh Curd/Yogurt
  • 1 Green Chilli finely chopped
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste

For Popu :

  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • few Curry Leaves
  • chopped Coriander Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

Wash kandagadda/suran thoroughly and remove the hard outer skin, then cut into small pieces.

Wash the chopped suran pieces well and cook on stove top with enough water and little salt. Cook them until soft, then drain the water.

Then take a spoon and  mash the cooked suran completely.

In the meantime, place yogurt in a mixing bowl and whisk well. Then add in cooked and mashed yam/kanda gadda paste, salt, red chilli powder and mix everything well.

Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add chopped green chillies, curry leaves, turmeric powder and fry for 30 secs, turn off the flame and let it cool down. Once cooled pour over the yogurt chutney.

Finally add chopped fresh coriander leaves and mix well. Now tasty tasty kanda gadda perugu pachadi/Suran ki yogurt chutney is ready to serve.
