Ingredients

  • 1 small cup Popy Seeds/Gasagasalu
  • 2 sp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 sp Urad Dal
  • fistful Dry Coconut Pieces
  • 6 Red Chillies
  • small marble size Tamarind
  • 3 Garlic cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 sp Oil

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the popy seeds and sesame seeds separately in a dry frying pan, once done transfer into a plate. Heat oil in the same pan add dry red chillies and fry, next add urad dal and fry till color changes, then add coconut, garlic, tamarind and stir for 30 secs, turn off the flame and allow it cool.
  2. Once cooled, grind them together in a mixie jar to a coarse powder along with enough salt. Now spicy popy seeds powder is ready to serve, it goes well with hot rice and ghee, store it in an airtight bottle.
