Ingredients

  • 1 no Arati Puvvu/Banana Flower
  • 1/4 cup Toor Dal/Kandi Pappu
  • 1 cup thin Buttermilk
  • 1 sp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 sp Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste

For Popu :

  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Urad Dal
  • 1/2 sp Chana Dal
  • 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • few Curry Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Instructions

Remove the maroon colored petals and take out the yellow florets. Discard translucent outer part of the florets, remove the pistil also. Repeat the same for all the florets.

Wash them in fresh water and drain. Then chop the florets into small pieces and soak them in thin buttermilk for 15 mints.

After that cook the chopped banana florets along with salt and turmeric powder. Once done drain them.

In the meantime, wash and half cook toor dal and strain, keep aside.

Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, cooked banana florets and fry.

Then add in cooked toor dal, red chilli powder and stir- fry for 4 or 5 mins on low flame, when done remove from the flame and transfer into a serving bowl. Now arati puvvu kandi pappu podi kura/banana flower toor dal fry is ready to serve.
