- 1 small cup Yogurt/Curd
- 1 small cup chopped Ridge Gourd/Birakaya Mukkalu
- 1 Tomato finely chopped
- 1 Green Chilli slit lengthwise
- 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 sp Red Chilli Powder
- Salt to taste
For Popu :
- 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
- 1/4 sp Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 sp Urad Dal
- 1 Red Chilli crocked
- 1 pinch Hing
- 2 sp Oil
- few Curry Leaves
Wash, peel ridge gourd and chop into small pieces. Wash and chop tomato into small pieces and keep aside.
Heat oil in a pan add popu ingredients and fry, once done add curry leaves, chopped green chillies and fry for a while. Then add chopped tomato and fry for a min on low to medium flame.
Then add in chopped ridge gourd pieces, turmeric powder and stir. Cover and cook for a minute then add enough salt, mix well and cook.
If needed sprinkle a little water and cook till done, stirring in between. Then add red chilli powder and cook for a minute, after that remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool.
Put yogurt in a bow, add in enough salt and whisk, then add cooked ridge gourd mixture and mix well, now tasty tasty beerakaya tomato perugu pachadi/ridge gourd tomato yogurt chutney is ready to serve.
