Grind coconut pieces into powder along with elaichi pods and keep aside.
Boil water and add jaggery into it and boil, once the jaggery is completely dissolved, filter it and remove the dust particles. Again boil the syrup and make it slightly thick, then remove from fire. Now add wheat flour, rice flour, coconut powder, ghee and mix thoroughly and make a soft dough.
Let it cool for a couple of mins, knead the dough well and make it into small lime sized balls and set aside. Heat oil in khadai, once hot shape the balls into small vadas and fry them into hot oil till brown in color. Then remove from the oil and drain them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Now soft and tasty wheat flour coconut burelu/appalu are ready. This is a very popular recipe served as naivedyam to Lord Ganesh during Vinayaka Chavithi festival.
