Pakam Garelu / Bellam Vadalu/ Vadalu in Jaggery Syrup – How to make Pakam Garelu
Ingredients
- 1 small cup Urad Dal
- same cup Grated Jaggery
- 3/4 cup Water
- 1 pinch Elaichi Powder
- Oil for deep fry
Instructions
- Wash and soak urad dal for 2 hours and then grind into a smooth and thick paste with a little water, now vada batter is ready.
- Combine water and jaggery in a bowl and boil until the jaggery dissolves. Once done strain the jaggery water and heat again on low-medium flame for 5 mins, add elaichi powder and turn off the flame. Take 1 cup of water in a another bowl, add in 2 sp jaggery syrup and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan for deep fry, take lemon sized ball from the urad dal batter, place on a plastic paper and make it a round flat shape, make a hole in the center and then drop it slowly into the hot oil and deep fry till golden brown in color.
- Then put the fried vada in jaggery water for 1 min, after that press it gently and keep in jaggery syrup. Do the same process with the remaining batter and soak them for 1 hour. Now Varalakshmi Vratham naivedyam pakam garelu are ready.
